Who we are
Firefly Strategies was founded on a simple belief: that every nonprofit has a story powerful enough to inspire people to get involved — and that the right strategy can turn that story into real, lasting impact.
Founded by Sarah Caldwell, Firefly Strategies brings together 15+ years of nonprofit leadership experience to help mission-driven organizations raise more, communicate with clarity, and build the donor relationships that fuel long-term growth.
At Firefly Strategies, we don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. We take the time to understand your mission, your donors, and your community — then we build the strategy and write the words that bring your vision to life.
We partner with nonprofits on:
• Fundraising strategy & planning
• Grant writing & development
• Strategic communications & marketing
Whether you need a thought partner for your next campaign, a grant writer who understands your mission deeply, or communications that connect your story to the people most likely to give — we're here to help you shine brighter.
Founder and Principal Sarah Caldwell brings more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience — spanning development, communications, and organizational strategy — to every client engagement. Before founding Firefly Strategies in 2024, Sarah served as Development Director at Note in the Pocket, She has directed capital campaigns, built grant programs from the ground up, and guided organizations through strategic planning and leadership transitions.
Through her affiliate partnership with Moss + Ross, Sarah has also served as Interim Development Director for Triangle-area organizations including Raleigh Area Land Trust, Triangle Family Services, and Healing Transitions — bringing steady leadership and fundraising expertise during critical periods of change.
Sarah holds a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management from George Mason University and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Wake Forest University. She is a Goodmon Fellow through Leadership Triangle and an active community leader serving on multiple nonprofit boards.
When she's not partnering with nonprofits, Sarah channels that same passion for inspiring others as a certified Yoga Sculpt instructor with CorePower Yoga — because whether in the studio or the strategy room, she believes in showing up fully and helping others find their strength.
